About Cottonwood Springs

Cottonwood Springs was settled around the perennial springs at the north end of the valley and incorporated in 1912, the same year Arizona achieved statehood. Ranching and a short-lived copper smelter shaped the first fifty years; today the economy runs on agriculture, tourism, and light manufacturing along the Highway 89 corridor.

The Town operates under a council-manager form of government. Six council members and a mayor are elected at large or by ward to four-year staggered terms. The Council sets policy and adopts the budget; a professional Town Manager, appointed by the Council, runs day-to-day operations.
